The Girl in the Yellow Dress

By Terence Anthony

I'm eighty-five years old, and I forget so many things, I guess my age is catching up with me; But I remember a special time, when I was just sixteen, And a girl in a yellow dress I used to see.. playing in the park, or running in the lane, Her beauty once reflected in a stream, Her eyes the deepest blue, her hair a golden flame, Walking in the sun, through fields of emerald green. Perhaps she didn't notice me, but now I'll never know, For even strong willed boys are often shy; I couldn't find the words that say "I love you, please don't go". So the girl in the yellow dress went walking by. And I will miss her, until the day I die.
